I support the movement and resolution of trauma by guiding the nervous system through constriction to expansion.
Healing and expanding the body/mind/spirit begins with allowing movement from the inside out. This includes movement of stuck thoughts, impulses, emotions, sensations, cells, neurons, energy, patterns, circulation, digestion, etc. When we learn to move through, instead of inhibit our physical and emotional impulses, we allow ourselves to expand to new dimensions of aliveness.
Somatic Experiencing is a gentle method of healing trauma that combines physiology, psychology, ethology and indigenous healing practices. Using sensory experience as a guide to resetting the autonomic nervous system, we create the natural ability to deactivate from fight or flight responses (anxiety, anger) and to emerge from freeze responses (numbness). Past traumas, or overwhelming experiences, are revisited, giving the nervous system the opportunity to renegotiate self-protective responses that were left incomplete. In sessions we work with traumas both large and small, at a person’s own pace, to facilitate natural movement, renegotiation and resolution.
I believe that healing should be available to all and work to make this a reality.
